As 5GNR proliferates throughout the world, ensuring stable and accurate time reference sources (GNSS, PTP) is critical, when compared to traditional 4G technologies. The TDD (Time Domain Duplex) centric timing architecture of 5GNR requires PTP timing to be stable and accurate. Inaccurate or unobtainable time references will cause issues in TDD such as low uplink throughput, downlink interference, high uplink noise, and overall degradation of cellular service. This is especially evident in 'GPS (GNSS) Challenged' environments, where GPS line of site reception may be impeded by Building Shadows or Structures.
The VIAVI PNT-6200 gives users a supplement to GNSS, ensuring stable and precision time synchronization in GPS challenged environments including In-Building, DAS, Urban Canyons, and Disaster Recovery situations. Using technologies such as Low Earth Orbit, Medium Earth Orbit Satellites, and backup Hold-Over Oscillators guarantees accurate time references in the most challenging of environments.
This session is technical in nature, reviewing network architectures, timing methods and technologies and includes a demo of the VIAVI PNT-6200 solution.
