Industry Survey: Navigating MPO Connectivity

Examining Drivers, Demands, and Challenges

As manufacturers in the fiber optic industry, USCONEC and VIAVI Solutions are bellwethers for the latest innovations and applications in optical networking technologies, including multi-fiber connectivity such as MPO. Although it has been around for many years (less visible in networks), new applications and architectures are relying on multifiber connectivity as they expand the capacity of their network to support growing demand.

VIAVI and USCONEC led a survey of more than 300 professionals who specify, design, install or operate fiber networks with MPO connectivity so that we may all better understand the drivers, demands and challenges when working with this technology. The results help all in industry better understand the drivers, demands and challenges participants face when working with this technology. The following report summarizes the responses, providing valuable insight for anyone who is already working with MPO while also experiencing new technologies such as Very Small Form Factor (VSFF).
