Watch this webinar recording to learn more about the emergence of MPO (Multi-Fiber Push on) connectors, their place in 5G network architecture, new test requirements, challenges presented, and best practices.
5G is driving growth in the use of MPO connectors by requiring more bandwidth and fibers throughout the mobility network. These connectors (12 or 24 fiber) can be used at multiple different points in the radio network, including:
- At the base of the tower, connected to the Fronthaul/Backhaul network, typically connecting to a drop terminal.
- At the top of the tower, at the junction box, where the MPO is then split to multiple fibers for connection to the radio.
- At the radio itself, if that radio is using QSFP optics.
